Word of the Day Series: Fear

I am starting a new series here on my blog. It’s called Word of the Day Series. I’ll write something about the word that captures my attention. For today we are going to talk about the word fear.

Fear is one of the most common cause that stops us from becoming our true selves. It is the reason why we cannot find happiness. It is the rationale why we cannot embrace change. Don’t get me wrong fear is not completely bad. It is a common emotion. However, fear will only begin to be considered bad when it takes over our lives.

I myself fear a lot of things. Sometimes it even gets to the point of taking over my life. I cannot blame anyone for this, because at the end of the day my fears are all coming from me. To let you know, I’ll name some of my fears.

  • Fear of failure
  • Fear of death
  • Fear of being mediocre
  • Fear of spiders
  • Fear of the unseen
  • Fear of the future
  • Fear of not being liked

Those are just a few of my fears. I know some are easy to conquer, but I haven’t done anything yet to overcome it. I don’t have to explain the reason behind some of these fear of mine, because I bet most of you also have the same fear as I’ve mentioned above.

I decided to write about fear because recently I noticed that I hated the word COWARD. This word portrays weakness or you are incapable of doing something. That is why whenever I hear someone say I’m a coward I began to be irritated. I think that everyone is brave. I believe that we can overcome our fear. We only need to do it. Yes, it’s scary, but we have no choice. I don’t want to live my life being controlled by my fears. And, most certainly I don’t like people calling me a coward. Therefore, I’ll do all the best that I can and I hope so are you, my dear lovely readers, to face those fears that limit us from being the best version of ourselves.
